'Tonal' CHARCOAL ON PAPER 124 x 44cm

A true to life charcoal drawing of the very rare and unusual vintage Grafton alto saxophone.  I have one of these saxophones, which I rarely play being more of a soprano player, so it sits in its case gathering more rarity as other examples get dropped and broken around the world.  It was made using a brittle white acrylic plastic, captured here with carefully applied shadows and lightspots revealing the lustre that makes not only the drawing, but also the instrument very special.
